What is Academic Advising?
Responsibilities of the Student Athlete:
1. Gather all relevant decision-making information, and accept
responsibility for decisions
2. Clarify personal values and goals
3. Become knowledgeable about policies, procedures, and
requirements
4. Maintain personal copies of grade reports and degree progress
reports, transfer credit evaluation, and all other
information regarding your college
education
5. Contact and keep in touch with your advisor, make and keep
appointments or call if you need to change or
cancel an appointment
6. Come with necessary materials (pen, schedule worksheet, forms,
etc.)
7. Be open concerning schoolwork, study habits, academic progress,
etc.
8. Build a schedule free of conflicts in time
9. Make your own final decisions concerning selection of courses,
choice of majors, and careers
10. Prepare a list of questions or concerns before meeting with
your advisor
11. Become familiar with student service offices and student
organizations
12. Ask questions until you understand
13. See that any academic records from other universities are
transferred and received by the Office of Admissions
